Mi-14PL – renovated by UKROBORONPROM SE “Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant “Aviacon” – entered on duty to protect Ukraine’s the maritime borders.
Previously, overhaul and repair of Mi-14PL helicopters for Ukrainian Naval Forces were carried out by specialists of SE "Sevastopol Aviation Enterprise".
Research on technical condition and repair of Mi-14PL helicopter – which never hit the sky since 1993 – were performed at the SE “Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant "Aviakon". On December 26, 2016, Mi-14PL helicopter pilot testing was carried out at the Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant after renovation works, as soon as new TBO was assigned. The engineering and technical staff and the workers of the Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant – in cooperation with the military service engineers – performed an extremely difficult task in practically no time. It should also be noted that Mi-14PL renovation by “Aviacon” was performed at the plant’s own expense.
Mi-14PL is a shore-based multi-purpose amphibious anti-submarine helicopter. On March 16, 2017, the crew of the military unit made the flight of the renovated Mi-14PL to a permanent location, and now the helicopter is operated by the military.
By the end of 2017, Aviakon will renovate 2 more Mi-14 helicopters for Ukrainian Naval Forces.
