DEPUTIES AGREED TO UOP PROPOSAL AND CREATE A WORKING GROUP FOR DEFENSE CONTRACT INSPECTIONS

Deputies of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine set up a working group to inspect defense contracts of enterprises-participants of the SC "UkrOboronProm" (UOP), agreeing to UOP proposal. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption.

"We had more than one serious conversation with UKROBORONPROM Director General Roman Romanov, who keeps emphasizing the offer to inspect defense contracts directly at UOP enterprises” – said the Chairman of the Committee Yegor Sobolev during the meeting.

He added that UKROBORONPROM Director General provided maximum support for working group development and insisted on starting its work as soon as possible.

According to the decision, the working group is formed from members of the Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption, ATO veterans and members of the Committee on National Security and Defence: Dmytro Tymchuk, Taras Pastukh, Yuriy Tymoshenko, Ihor Lutsenko, Oleh Barna, Ihor Popov, Oleh Osukhovs’kyy, Dmytro Dobrodomov, Semen Semenchenko ta Volodymyr Parasyuk.

As stressed Yegor Sobolev during the meeting, the working group should report to the Committee on the results of checks by 1 February 2017. The SC "UkrOboronProm" gave deputies who responded to UOP offer and is ready to provide reform of the state defense complex of Ukraine.

The SC "UkrOboronProm" invited deputies of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine personally to get access the necessary documents, including those containing state secrets and relating to defense contracts. UOP initiative is related to the fact that despite the openness and transparency of its activities, "UkrOboronProm" is under constant pressure of media information attacks that are part of a hybrid war against our country, as well as public accusations of "excessive" secrecy of documents.
