UKROBORONPROM Kherson State Plant "Pallada" successfully completed testing of the newest composite autonomous floating dock "ERENEOS" project 50478, with carrying capacity of 7100 tons. Tests were conducted in the Dnipro waters, near Kherson, October 22, 2017.
The floating autonomous dock project was developed by Palada Design Bureau and built in 14 months under the supervision of the American Bureau of Shipping. The dock was launched in early October, and after three weeks successfully passed all the tests.
The test cycle included immersion of the dock to a maximum depth of 12.2 meters and its rise. Despite the difficult weather conditions, all previously declared characteristics of the floating dock were confirmed to the representatives of the owner and the American Bureau of Shipping during thetest. That is a prerequisite for dock certification, this will be the first case in the history of shipbuilding of Ukraine and Bureau work.
The length of pontoon deck is 120 meters, it exceeds the length of the football field. Dock maximum submersion level is 12.2 meters. Dock pontoon is made of heavy marine concrete on the basis of sulfate-resistant portland cement, and its conning towers are made of ship steel. Such a combination of materials provides reduction in operating costs by 2-2.5 times compared with similar steel docks of equal load-carrying capacity.
After transfer to the owner – Cypriot company Multimaine Shipyards Ltd, Cyprus – the floating dock will be towed to Cyprus, where it will be operated in the port of Limassol.
Kherson State Plant "Pallada"is a unique enterprise of Ukraine, its docks are successfully operated by many countries of the world. Among them – Japan, South Korea, Finland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Algeria and others.
