The State Concern "UkrOboronProm" held an open forum for small and medium businesses to engage private enterprises in the development of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine.
The meeting – held on January 30 – was attended by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Yuriy Brovchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Employment Service Serhiy Kravchenko, Director of Weapons and military equipment department of Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Roman Bashyns’kyy, UKROBORONPROM leadership and heads of UOP enterprises-participants, experts on development of small and medium businesses, as well as about 150 heads of small and middle segment of Ukrainian industrial companies.
In his speech, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Yuriy Brovchenko spoke about the priorities of military-industrial complex reform in 2017 and the importance of transition to the state defense order formation for the three-year period.
"Medium-term planning of the state defense order is a significant advantage for government customers – including requirements and resources planning – as well as for enterprises, working on defense order – on terms of planning their workload. This approach will facilitate production preparation, and will ensure production capacity sustainability and, consequently, business opportunities,"- said Yurii Brovchenko.
In turn, Director of Weapons and military equipment department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Roman Bashynsky, noted that supplying of Ukrainian army with advanced and effective weapons is the main objective of the military-industrial complex.
Creating the ecosystem of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine is one of the main component of this task.
"We consider our defense industry as an ecosystem, which naturally includes not only “UkrOboronProm” and its enterprises-participants, but also many other industrial enterprises of Ukraine of different ownership. The purpose of Concern is operation of the entire industry and economy of Ukraine, in which "UkrOboronProm" acts as the integrator of the domestic industry by creating common rules of partnership, standards, leading Ukrainian enterprises to foreign markets, organization of international partnership for creating innovative projects", – said UOP Deputy Director General Volodymyr Kostrytskyy.
President Petro Poroshenko said that the country’s defense complex in 2016 demonstrated its effectiveness despite financing difficulties.
