The State Enterprise "Antonov", which is part of the State Concern "Ukroboronprom", is working on entering global UAV market.
According to experts, "Antonov" can quickly integrate into the world market of unmanned aerial vehicles and take the leading position. Innovative approach and transition to NATO standards – actively implemented at the Antonov State Enterprise – made this possible.
The possibility of deploying technological and industrial capacities for the needs of domestic market may become the key to "Antonov" success. According to experts, demand of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the coming years will be about 100 UAVs. Demand of other law enforcement agencies will amount to 36-50 units of UAV. This will allow developing high level of technology and production, making Antonov products competitive in the global market.
In April 2015, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine transferred management of the SE”Antonov” to the SC “Ukroboronprom”.
Having entered the State Enterprise "Ukroboronprom", SE"Antonov" firstly fulfilled tasks of import substituting Russian components in the production of its equipment. In particular, in the year 2015, the production of the AN-178 aircraft made up 41% of the components from Russia, and in 2016 the company completely abandoned the components of this country by switching to units and aggregates of other suppliers.
SE "Antonov" became the basis for “Ukroboronprom” Aviation cluster – Ukrainian Aircraft Corporation. This cluster is the first example of reforming the defense industry of the country within the framework of the approved strategy of the State Concern.
