International exhibition "Arms and Security" – where SC "UkrOboronProm" demonstrated its latest achievements and armament – came to an end. This year 237 exhibits of 46 enterprises of the State Concern – including high-profile public premiere: terrestrial and aerial drones, military units, artillery and armored vehicles – were represented to the visitors. In addition to new developments, "UkrOboronProm" represented reform strategy of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine.
One of the main events of the exhibition was the presentation of the reform strategy of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, held on the first day of "Arms and Security".
"The reform strategy provides simultaneous operation in the legal, technological and production spheres, allowing to integrate the defense complex of Ukraine into international community, providing its reliable work," – said the head of the SC "UkrOboronProm" Roman Romanov during the presentation.
In general, reform strategy of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine consists of corporatization, creating of supervisory boards, audit – involving international companies, – clustering of enterprises in key areas of defence, defending technology and innovation platform – UkrARPA.
“UkrARPA is already defined as a platform that will bring together developers, startups, investment funds and military. This platform will unite advanced scientific thought, investments, exchange mechanism and protection technologies “, – said the head of the SC “UkrOboronProm” (UOP) Roman Romanov, having outlined the details of UkrARPA during the presentation.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko supported the State Concern initiative, having stressed the fact that UkrARPA will allow to concentrate advanced scientific thought, investment, the mechanism of technology exchange and protection. "This is an important step in the development of Ukraine as a strong state with a strong defence industry", – said the President of Ukraine.
According to the head of the State Concern, reform of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine is impossible without changes in legislation of Ukraine.
"Legislation has to change from the Soviet one to modern – the one that will match the declared concept of industry reforming. First of all, it is about a public-private partnership, changing the principles of foreign trade etc. We hope that the deputies will support legislative package on increase of the country’s defence, "- said Roman Romanov during the live broadcast on "Channel 5".
The first public demonstration of tactical unmanned multipurpose vehicle "Phantom" was held in the framework of "Arms and Security." This UAV is one of the most advanced developments of UOP SE "SpetsTehnoEksport". It is the first step in development of advanced systems that will replace traditional armament.
During the expon visitors’ attention was paid to modernized infantry carrier, which received the official name BMP-1UMD from the State Enterprise "Zhytomyr Armored Plant,"one of UOP enterprises. In just three months, specialists of the plant adapted German engine Deutz for use in this fighting vehicle.
Specialists of Zhytomyr Armored Plant also represented combat module "Doublet", equipped with two automatic 30mm guns ZTM-1 by UOP SE “Scientific and Technical Complex “Presicion Mechanics Plant,” enhancing to double the density of fire, creating a curtain with 30 mm projectiles, or shooting alternately from each barrel, which allows to double duration of continuous fire without overheating the main armament of the vehicle.
For the first time combat module "Taipan" – developed by UOP SE "SpetsTehnoEksport" – was demonstrated to Ukrainian public. Installed system of backlash planetary gearboxes and ac converter-fed motors, provide precise targeting at ultra slow and high speeds make combat module “Taipan” unique.
SE "SpetsTehnoEksport" also introduced UAV’s Sparrow and Anser in the framework of "Arms and security.
Anser can stay in the air from 6 to 12 hours, which makes it effective for monitoring of large areas, shorelines, position and movement of the enemy in deep rear. The use of optics with 32x zoom allows detailed exploration of area.
UAV "Sparrow" is designed for tactical close and medium-range reconnaissance. Speed of deployment, simplicity and reliability, resistance to mechanical and thermal effects, protection from moisture make “Sparrow” indispensable for tactical reconnaissance groups.
The mortar system caliber 120 mm – developed by UOP SE "Ukroboronservis" – was also represented to the public.
This complex is designed to support ground fire units under conditions of the current warfare. It takes only 30 seconds to bring the complex to combat readiness condition and only 20 seconds after the last shot – to leave the position.
"Arms and Security" is also a real forum for negotiations with foreign partners and a place for key defence contracts signing.
This year, the UOP state company "Ukrinmash" and Turkish company Havelsan Hava Elektronik Sanayi signed the agreement on cooperation in production of passive radar at UOP enterprises.
Slovak company Grand Power s.r.o. and "Ukroboronservis" signed agreement on cooperation in the manufacture of firearms. Ukrainian and Slovak specialists will work together on the latest developments, share experiences and technological solutions. According to the Agreement, Ukrainian specialists will assemble handgun K100 and submachine gun K105, with the prospect of supplying the weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and National Guard, MIA.
In the framework of the exhibition the meeting between the heads of the leading defence companies of Great Britain and the State Concern was held. Reform strategy of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine was demonstrated to the representatives of Guidance BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Marshall Aerospace and Defense Group, Heroux Devtek. The need to solve legal barriers to cooperation expansion with foreign companies interested in joint projects and a new level of cooperation.
International Conference on cybersecurity “Ukrainian cyberfront: Understanding, threats and counteractions” – organized by UOP state company "Ukrinmash" – was held in the framework of “Arms and Security.”
