British company Dowty Propellers began supplying components for propellers of the the new demonstrator aircraft An-132. This was stated by representatives of official delegations of Dowty Propellers and DC "Ukroboronprom" at the International Aerospace Salon "FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW-2016″, taking place in the suburbs of London.

Based on the agreement, signed between the two companies this year, a twin-engine AN-132D will utilise Dowty Propellers’ R408 propeller systems, which already are in widespread service worldwide on regional airliners. For the AN-132D’s ground and test flights, Dowty Propellers is providing two R408 propeller systems for the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer “Antonov.”

“We’ve established an excellent working relationship with Antonov since signing the R408 propeller system’s supply agreement in January, and our teams are fully committed to making the AN-132D demonstrator a success,” said Oliver Towers, the President of Dowty Propellers.

Dowty Propellers’ support for the AN-132D program will include commissioning of the R408 propeller systems on the demonstrator aircraft, the rigging of strain gauges for its ground and flight testing, assistance during demonstration flights, along with intermediate-level training for Antonov personnel to provide full operational knowledge of the systems.

“Working on the programme of the AN-132 multipurpose transport, Antonov Company and our partner from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, gathered a cluster of the world leaders in aviation field. We are proud to cooperate with Dowty Propellers. So, we are sure, that AN-132 will take a proper place in the market. Construction of the AN-132D demonstrator is the first step on this way”, — stated Oleksandr Kotsiuba, the President of Antonov.

R408 propeller system incorporates six all-composite blades with advanced swept design and optimized ARA-D/A airfoil sections, providing excellent climb and cruise performance while generating low noise levels, and the system’s modular configuration is designed for low maintenance costs.

The AN-123D demonstrator will be developed by Antonov , together with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. This multi-purpose aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A turboprop engines, which have logged millions of flight hours with Dowty Propellers’ R408 propeller system on regional airliners.

Farnborough Airshow-2016 is the exhibition of aircraft of all types and purposes, aerospace engines, satellites, aircraft repair and maintenance, radar and surveillance systems, avionics and ground equipment, etc. Being the largest expo in the UK, the exhibition is held every two years and is one of the major ones in the world.
