Antonov 110th anniversary celebration was held the day before – on February the 7th, 2016, – under supervision of the outstanding Ukrainian aircraft designer, Oleg Antonov, world-famous aircrafts came into existence.
Oleg Antonov created 52 types of gliders and 22 types of aircrafts, including the ones with world’s largest capacity. He developed dozens of other aircrafts, founded the original design school for transport and regional passenger aircrafts and special purpose aircrafts and founded the company that today is named after him. SE "Antonov" is the leader of aviation industry of Ukraine, and aircrafts of its production are in demand worldwide.
Flight crew members, veterans of well-known "ANNs" came forward with the initiative to erect a monument to Oleg Antonov in Kyiv.
SE "Antonov" was one of the most powerful aircraft companies in the world, producing 400 aircrafts annually. Unfortunately, since independence, this index began to decline. Thus, in recent years, "Antonov" produced 1-2 aircrafts a year. So, in 2015 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to transfer the management of the company to SE "Ukroboronprom." As a part of the State Concern, "Antonov" expanded the range of foreign partners, signed several important agreements, and presented the new aircrafts AN-178 and AN-132. Now the company is working on the new task – development of the unmanned combat system for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
