UKROBORONPROM LAUNCHES THE SYSTEM OF TRANSITION TO NATO STANDARDS

The State Concern "UkrOboronProm" launched the system of NATO standards practical approval in real setting of development, production, modernization and repair of weapons and military equipment. The corresponding Order was signed by Director General of the SC "UkrOboronProm" Roman Romanov. The project will be implemented with the assistance of NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine. Technical standards apply to all stages of the life cycle of the armament, regulating the implementation of management systems and quality assurance – AQAP (Allied Quality Assurance Publications) series 2000.

"We are to equip our armed forces with modern weapons systems, compatible with similar systems of NATO member countries, and there is no other way" – said UKROBORONPROM Director General Roman Romanov at the seminar on NATO standards implementation. According to him, implementation of international standards will allow supplying Ukrainian army with modern military equipment. Relevant work is to become synergy of efforts of SC "UkrOboronProm" with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Ministry of Economic Development, the National Security Council Secretariat, the State Space Agency, National standards organizations, military research organizations, engaged in implementation of NATO standards, as well as with other organizations.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Yuri Brovchenko said that transition to NATO standards is the main vector of defence industry complex reform.

UKROBORONPROM is developing within the frameworks of the strategy “Ukrainian shield,” focused on high-tech production, transition to international standards (NATO) and supplying the army with modern types of armaments. The State Concern extends cooperation with NATO and EU member countries, as defined by the strategic course of the state.
