UKROBORONPROM WILL COOPERATE WITH UNIVERSITIES OF WESTERN UKRAINE TO IMPLEMENT DEFENSE INNOVATION PROJECTS

SC "Ukroboronprom" and universities of Western Ukraine will together implement innovative tech projects for defense industry. UKROBORONPROM signed the relevant memorandum with several universities during a joint meeting with the Ministry of Education.

"Armored vehicles, small arms, drones and means of warfare – these are the main areas of cooperation between UKROBORONPROM and the universities. After that students and scientists will bring new ideas to help supply our army with advanced military equipment and weapons,"- said Deputy Director General of Aircraft Industry and Operations Yurii Paschenko.

According to him, defense industry funding in 2016 increased by almost 30%.

"It is important that a significant portion of these funds could be used not for repair of the old technology, but for implementation of innovative ideas and production of advanced armament", – said Yury Paschenko, adding that he is already interested in many samples, represented by "Lviv Polytechnic".

the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Maksym Strikha promised that the Ministry will support innovative research, aimed at defense. He said the office will help coordinate the efforts of universities with Ukroboronprom, the Milnistry of Defense and NSDC.

Memorandums on cooperation were signed with the National University "Lviv Polytechnic", Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanik, Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University, Ivano-Frankivsk National University of Oil and Gas, Uzhgorod National University, Khmelnytsky National University, Vlokh Institute of physical optics and Institute of thermoelectricity. Under these memoranda, educational institutions offer their research and development for defense industry of the country.

UKROBORONPROM is successfully cooperating with almost 50 Ukrainian universities, attracting scientific potential to solving production issues. Among them – the legendary Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, NTUU "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute," NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.
