Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) will become one of the leading centers of innovation for the Ukrainian defense industry. This was stated by UKROBORONPROM Director General Roman Romanov during the signing of the Memorandum on scientific and technical cooperation with NTUU "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
"KPI chose the European way of development, creating technology parks as a symbiosis of education, science, and production, intended for specific sales. This type of business chain operates worldwide. The path chosen, will allow the university to create modern technologies that will conquer the world ", – said Roman Romanov.
According to Roman Romanov, UKROBORONPROM and the Ministry of Defense are interested to deploy scientific and production sites at the technical universities. The Institute has already proved the effectiveness of this strategy, having developed highly innovative domestic drone "Spektakor", which has improved warfare capabilities of the Ukrainian Army. In addition, a number of important defense projects – including small arms and individual protection for soldiers – is being developed.
KPI also signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"This year for the first time the state budget has 600 million UAH planned for scientific research, performed for the Ministry of Defense," – said Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak.
In his turn, the KPI Rector Mykhaylo Zgurovskyy stressed the real possibility of increasing high-tech exports from 3.5% to 20%. He also noted that Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is the largest source of high-tech engineers in Ukraine.
UKROBORONPROM is successfully cooperating with almost 50 Ukrainian universities, attracting scientific potential to solving production issues. Among them – the legendary Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, NTUU "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute," NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.
